Food and wine enthusiast? Lover of culture, architecture and vineyards? There is something for everyone along this beautiful route in South Africa.
Well, to be honest, it is not really a route, but rather an entire region devoted vineyards, wine and wine tourism. The region is located in the southwestern part of the country, near Cape Town. It is a very dynamic region concealing some real natural and cultural treasures.
The rich and fertile hills have attracted white and red wine produces since the 18th century. There is a huge variety of wines, certainly something for everyone, such as Lanzerac Manor & Winery, Stony Brook Vineyards, La Motte Wine Estate and many more. Stop and admire the sublime scenery that surrounds the vineyards and enjoy some excellent wine tasting. The region has a very special wine, a Pinotage, which is a cross between Pinot Black and Cinsault.
Despite the tranquility of the region's unspoiled landscapes, its proximity to Cape Town and Stellenbosch make it a very dynamic region combining serene vineyards with cultural and nightlife activities. Explore the city and enjoy one of its many good restaurants. Further east, head to Franschhoek and be seduced by its Victorian architecture and general charm!
