Some information about the rules of driving a motorhome in Poland.

Basic driving rules in Poland

The driver must always be on the right side of the road, priority on the right

It is imperative to have your national driving license with you. If the license is not in English, French, German or Italian, you will need to obtain an international driving license.

Traffic flows counter-clockwise in the traffic circles.

Crossing in Poland is "Indonesian style": you have to pass in front of the car you are crossing and not behind it as in France.

All occupants of a motorhome must wear a seatbelt, both in the front and in the back.
Be careful! It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that all passengers are properly secured. Failure to do so may result in a fine.
Both the driver and the passenger can be fined.

Children under 1,50m must travel in an approved booster seat adapted to their height and weight.

Always overtake on the left and allow a long distance before turning back, especially in front of a truck

Low beam headlights are mandatory during the day and at night.

The use of cell phones while driving and the use of hands-free car kits are forbidden in Poland.

The speed limit for motorhomes is :

  • residential areas: 20km/h
  • driving in built-up areas from 5am to 11pm: 50km/h
  • driving in built-up areas from 11pm to 5am: 60km/h
  • on ordinary roads: 90km/h
  • on expressways: 100km/h
  • on express roads: 120km/h
  • on freeways: 140km/h

The legal alcohol level in the blood must be lower than 0.2 g/l. Otherwise, legal proceedings will be initiated.

In case of an accident, call 112 as a priority

Warning: vertical and horizontal signs differ from one country to another. Be vigilant and adapt your driving!
