Check out some photos from road-tripper Pauline on her voyage in New Zealand.
Next stop -> Tasmania!
On a one month trip in December of 2016 from Auckland to Christchurch, Pauline shares some of her impressions of the country, as well as some "tips and tricks". Here are some highlights:
- Which type of camping did you prefer? Back-country camping and non-reserved campgrounds.
"Thanks to our self-contained unit, we were able to travel in total freedom and camp in areas more and more rugged as we went. A real pleasure! Not having booked anything in advance really allowed us to adapt our itinerary to the weather and areas that became innaccessible due to earthquakes...a normal occurance in NZ..."
"A van without a shower/toilet requires you to stay in established campgrounds, of which there are fewer and fewer free sites(many campgrounds are becoming "self-contained only", according to the app WikiCamps).
Our self-contained unit allowed us to avoid the payed campgrounds (in 30 days, we only stayed in 6 payed campgrounds in order to recharge our batteries), which during the span of one month leads to some big savings."
