Here is the story of the trip of 4 girlfriends on the New Zealand roads from Queenstown to Auckland from March 30th to April 9th.
After a 12-hours flight between Hong Kong and Queenstown with stopover in Auckland, a good night's sleep is essential before picking-up our road trip companion.
The next morning, we take the control of our motorhome direction Te Anau, 2h drive from Queenstown. In the evening, we visit the cave of Glowworm. We have a great time.
Our next stop was Wanaka (3 hours drive) and we spend the day around to visit and enjoy the scenery. After a restful day, we head for the hike around Lake Wanaka. The landscapes are breathtaking! When we return from our walk, we take the road to Tekapo (2h).
Thanks to our vehicle, we are very free and independant. We leave then towards Milford Sound (2 hours of road) where we make a cruise. The cruise is really nice because there are not too many people on the boat and especially we could see seals and dolphins! We return to spend the night at Te Anau campsite.
The next day, a day rich in emotion awaits us. Lifted early because we make a ride a helicopter, it was magic to fly over lake and mountain. Guaranteed sensations! Then we leave for a horse ride in the mountains. The experience and unique, it's a really nice way to discover the landscapes of Tekapo Lake
After such a beautiful day, we took the road to Chirstchurch to spend the evening. The next day, drive to Kaikoura (2h45) to walk and especially spend two nights and a day in a vineyard in Wairou Valley. We head back to Havelock to take a day cruise and meet the whales.
Our search for whales was more than fruitful, a real pleasure! Head full of fantastic memories, we take the road to Kaiteriteri (2h). For our last day in New Zealand, we walked in the Abel Tasman National Park. These are still different landscapes from what we have seen before!
