On the North Island in the Tongariro National Park, there are two unusual ski resorts, Whakapapa and Turoa. The ski slopes are situated on the Mount Ruapehu volcano!
The Canterbury region near Christchurch on the South Isalnd, is another ski area called Mount Hutt. Near Queenstown you will find the best ski resorts whatever your level: The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona and Treble Cone. You can also do snow shoeing and skating.
