Excursions by boat or air can be organized to better observe the wildlife. Off the beaches you can watch dolphins and even swim with them. There are different species of dolphins in New Zealand. You will probably have the chance to see the great dolphin with a length of 3 metres or the smallest and rarest dolphin only found in this region of the globe, the Hector dolphin.
Near Akaroa and Oamaru seals and blue penguins await you. You can take a sea excursions by boat to see Hector dolphins, seals and blue penguins basking on the rocks. Diving and snorkelling will offer you an amazing and unforgettable underwater experience.
